The short version: no page on this site currently publishes a hydrogen concentration figure measured by us. Every output number in every review is either a manufacturer specification, a third-party certification result, or a measurement reported by a verified buyer — and it is labelled as such on the page where it appears. Where we hold a device, we say so and limit ourselves to usability observations.

Why Manufacturer PPM and PPB Claims Need Scrutiny
Advertised hydrogen output figures are peak-cycle, lab-condition numbers. Actual dissolved hydrogen concentration at the moment you drink depends on water temperature, the mineral content of your source water, cycle duration, device age, battery state, and the condition of the electrolysis membrane.
The result is a persistent gap between the number on the box and the number in the glass. Two consequences follow. First, a higher advertised number is not evidence of a better device. Second, the presence of third-party certification from a recognised issuing body carries more weight than any self-reported figure, however large.
What We Own, and What We Don’t
We do not accept review samples, sponsored placements, or discounted evaluation units from any manufacturer or affiliate program. Anything we have acquired, we bought at retail. This removes the most common incentive to soften a verdict.
What that means in practice, stated plainly:

The Evidence Tier on Every Review
Every product page on this site carries one of the following labels. The label tells you what kind of evidence sits behind the verdict.
- Tier A — Hands-on tested. Unit owned and measured by us using the method below, with drop counts and cycle conditions published. Not currently applied to any product on this site.
- Tier B — Limited hands-on. Unit owned; usability, build, and battery behaviour observed directly; no output measurement published.
- Tier C — Expert-reviewed. Assessment relies on a named external specialist or published clinical source rather than our own handling.
- Tier D — Verified-buyer synthesis and specification audit. Aggregated verified-buyer reports combined with manufacturer specs and certification checks. This is the current default across this site.
- Tier E — Specification and claim audit. Published specs and certifications compared, without user-experience data.
- Tier F — Curated marketplace comparison. Listing-level comparison with no independent verification layer.

The Titration Method We Commit To
This is the procedure behind any future Tier A label on this site. It is published before the fact for two reasons: so we cannot quietly change the standard to suit a result, and so you can run it yourself on a device you already own. H2 Blue titration is the standard colorimetric consumer test, in which each drop neutralises approximately 0.1 ppm of dissolved hydrogen and the endpoint is reached when the blue colour clears.
Equipment required: H2 Blue reagent, a 50 ml borosilicate glass vial, distilled water as the source input, a digital thermometer, ozone test strips covering 0 to 1000 ppb, and free-and-total chlorine test strips.
- Baseline. Fill the vial with 50 ml of room-temperature distilled water and apply reagent to confirm a zero-hydrogen starting point.
- Charge. Bring the device to a full charge. Record battery behaviour separately from output.
- First cycle. Fill to marked capacity with distilled water and run one full generation cycle per the manufacturer’s instructions. Record cycle time.
- Sample. Within 60 seconds of cycle completion, transfer 50 ml into the vial.
- Titrate. Add reagent one drop at a time, swirling between drops. Stop when the water runs clear. Record the drop count.
- Convert. Multiply drops by 0.1 for approximate dissolved hydrogen in ppm — 18 drops corresponds to roughly 1.8 ppm.
- Repeat. Run two further cycles to check consistency. Variance above 15 percent between cycles indicates instability and should be reported as such.
- Waste gas. Hold an ozone strip near the vent port during a cycle and record any colour change against baseline.
- Chlorine. Test the output water with a chlorine strip. Detectable chlorine in output from clean source water is a safety failure.
What the Numbers Mean, and Where This Method Stops
PPM and PPB. Dissolved hydrogen concentration in the output water. One ppm equals 1,000 ppb. Published clinical work on molecular hydrogen commonly sits in the region of 0.5 to 1.6 ppm; concentrations well below that range are unlikely to reflect the conditions studied.
Ozone in output. Electrolysis without proper gas separation can produce ozone and vent it into the drinking water. Any measurable ozone in output is a consumer safety failure regardless of hydrogen output level. Background on this is in our ozone gas warning.
Chlorine in output. Indicates plate degradation, source-water chlorine being concentrated rather than removed, or a cell design producing free chlorine. Treated as a failure.
The limits matter as much as the method. Reagent titration is an approximation, not a lab-grade electrochemical measurement — it is the standard consumer-level test, not a laboratory result, and we will not describe it as one. It says nothing about biological uptake, in-vivo bioavailability, membrane degradation over months of use, isotope ratios, or health outcomes of any kind. How Products Are Scored
Four criteria, applied to whatever evidence the tier allows:
- Claimed output versus independent verification. Is the headline figure backed by a certification body or an independent measurement, or is it self-reported only?
- Certification legitimacy. Certification claims are checked against the issuing authority rather than accepted from the listing.
- Waste-gas and materials integrity. Cell design, gas separation, electrode material, and vessel material.
- Build quality and warranty clarity. Durability patterns in buyer reports, and whether warranty terms are stated in a way a buyer could actually enforce.
One hard rule overrides the rest: a device that fails any single safety criterion — ozone or chlorine in output, cracked housing, missing vent — is not recommended, whatever its output figure. Corrections, and How to Challenge Us
Every review on this site carries a “last verified” date. When a manufacturer ships a hardware revision under an unchanged model number, we update the review on discovery and move that date.
We do not hold raw measurement data for products we have not measured, and we will not present sourced figures as our own. Where a number comes from a manufacturer, a certification body, or a buyer report, the review says so at the point the number appears.

The Bottom Line
We own one hydrogen water device and we have published no measurements of our own. Everything on this site is currently Tier D — verified-buyer synthesis plus specification and certification audit — and every review says so on the page.
Plenty of sites in this category imply a bench and a set of instruments behind their numbers. We do not have one, so we do not say we do. A review that overstates its own evidence is worth less than one that tells you exactly where each figure came from, because only the second kind can be checked.
When buying, weight third-party certification from a recognised issuing body over the largest advertised figure. Most devices in this category do not deliver their headline output in normal use, and a self-reported number with no verification behind it tells you nothing about the device in your hand.
